There’s so much Rose being produced in B.C. and so much is easy drinking. What’s noteworthy is that the wineries are putting their own unique twist into a varietal that’s exploded in popularity. Monte Creek Ranch near Kamloops using a hybrid grape developed in North America called Marquette. What you’ll notice on the nose is the aroma of fresh berries and a little rose petal. The berry influence carries through in the taste but I also noted a touch of cranberry. That added a tartness to the wine which I really enjoyed. It’s the only B.C. Rose I’ve had this year with that flavour profile. Good on Monte Creek Ranch for going their own way. This is the perfect patio wine and being Rose you can pair it with all of your favourite dishes.
