Haywire Secrest Mountain Gamay Noir Rose 2016 B.C.

It seems to my palate that with every vintage Haywire Rose sets a higher bar. There’s so much to enjoy with this pink. First and foremost, it’s from the Gamay grape which is a personal fave but also one of B.C.’s unsung heroes. While the colour seems a dark pink in my bottle picture, it’s a lighter pink in the glass. There’s a beautiful aroma of fresh fruit which sets you up for the flavour. I tasted a rich, deep, savoury mix of berries that’s layered with herbs and a subtle tartness that just added to the experience. You expect some earthiness with a Gamay Rose and Haywire delivers in this delicious pink. I poured it with grilled prawns and scallops and loved that pairing. There’s quite a price range on this wine as you’ll see on my post so shop around!
